Privacy Notice

The Liver Critical Care Hub (the Hub) is an independent project operated by Dr Tom Dixon. This notice explains how personal information is handled by the Hub. For privacy questions or requests, contact livercriticalcarehub@gmail.com.

Information the Hub may collect

You can browse the public website without creating an account.

The services used to host and protect the website may process limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser or device type, pages requested, and error or security logs. This is used to deliver the site, maintain security and investigate technical problems.

If you contact the Hub by email, the information received may include your name, email address, professional details you choose to provide, the contents of your message, attachments and subsequent correspondence. If you contribute to the Hub, information may also include your biography, affiliation, authorship or review record, relevant permissions and declarations of interests. Information intended for publication will only be published with your knowledge and agreement.

Please do not send patient-identifiable information, confidential clinical material or requests for individual medical advice. If such information is received unintentionally, it will not be used for publication and will be deleted or anonymised as soon as reasonably practicable.

How information is used

Personal information may be used to:

• respond to enquiries and manage correspondence;
• assess corrections, contributions and opportunity submissions;
• edit and publish agreed content and maintain an appropriate editorial record;
• operate, secure and troubleshoot the website; and
• meet legal or regulatory obligations.

The Hub mainly relies on its legitimate interests in operating a credible educational resource, responding to people who contact it, preserving editorial integrity and keeping the website secure. Information may also be processed where required by law or with consent when consent is specifically requested.

Cookies, analytics and communications

The public website does not currently use analytics or advertising, and the Hub does not currently operate a newsletter or send marketing emails. The private editorial area uses essential sign-in and security cookies.

If analytics, non-essential cookies, a mailing list or other new data collection is introduced, this notice and any required controls will be updated.

Sharing information

Personal information may be processed by service providers used for website hosting, database and authentication services, and email. It may also be disclosed where required by law, needed to protect legal rights or website security, or where you have given permission.

The Hub does not sell, rent or trade personal information.

How long information is kept

Routine enquiries are normally retained for no longer than 12 months after they are resolved, unless there is an ongoing relationship or legal reason to keep them.

Editorial correspondence, correction records, contributor details, permissions and declarations may be kept while the relevant content remains published and for a reasonable period afterward, to preserve an accurate editorial record.

Information will be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer reasonably required.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion or restriction of its use, or to object to certain processing. You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.

Changes to this notice

This notice will be reviewed when the Hub's functionality or use of personal information changes.

Newsletter

If you choose to join the monthly newsletter, the Hub records your email address, the date and source of your subscription, and the version of the consent wording you accepted. The lawful basis is your consent. This information is used only to administer and send the newsletter; it is not sold or used for third-party marketing.

You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every edition or by contacting livercriticalcarehub@gmail.com. A limited suppression record may be retained after you unsubscribe so that your preference continues to be respected.

Subscriber information is stored using the Hub’s Supabase database and processed for newsletter delivery by Resend. Resend receives the email address and subscription status needed to deliver the newsletter, manage preferences and suppress future messages after an unsubscribe, bounce or spam complaint.
