Corrections Policy
How the Hub handles errors, updates, corrections, complaints and withdrawals.
Our approach
The Liver Critical Care Hub aims to be accurate, transparent and responsive when errors are identified. Corrections are handled according to their effect on meaning, interpretation and clinical relevance.
Reporting an error
Readers are encouraged to report suspected errors, broken references or concerns about published content by emailing livercriticalcarehub@gmail.com.
Please include, where possible:
- the title or web address of the relevant page;
- a clear description of the concern;
- the source or evidence supporting the proposed correction; and
- your contact details if you would like a response.
Reports made in good faith will be reviewed on their merits. A correction is not dependent on the identity or seniority of the person raising it.
How changes are handled
The nature of any change will depend on its significance:
- Minor amendments include spelling, grammar, formatting and repaired links that do not alter meaning. These may be made without a formal correction notice.
- Substantive corrections include factual, numerical, interpretive or referencing errors that could affect how a reader understands the content. The page will be amended and a dated correction note will explain what changed.
- Major concerns arise when content is materially unreliable, misleading or unsafe. The item may be withdrawn from normal access while it is reviewed, or retained with a prominent notice explaining the concern and subsequent action.
Corrections will not be used to conceal legitimate uncertainty or reasonable differences in clinical interpretation.
Updates are not corrections
New evidence, revised guidance or changes in practice may require an article to be updated even when the original version was accurate at publication. Material updates will be dated and the page’s review information will be revised. Where an update substantially changes the Clinical Takeaway, this will be made clear.
Review and complaints
The Founder and Editor reviews correction requests and determines the appropriate response. At this stage, the Hub does not have a standing independent complaints panel. If a serious concern relates directly to the conduct or competing interests of the Founder and Editor, appropriate independent advice will be sought where practical.
Concerns about editorial process, disclosure or fairness can be sent to the same email address. The Hub will aim to respond proportionately and correct the public record whenever a material error is confirmed.
